Western ways are not looked down upon by Nepalese youngsters but rather liked and followed . this increasing cultural trend is not just affecting the vulnerable minded youth but elderly people too. the incorporation of western values have seen numerous detrimental effects in Nepali life such as their subsistence,increased drug abuse ,prostitution and break down of family life . by the way of balance, there have been some positive effects, primarily including increased women's right, decreased followers of the Hindu caste system,semi democracy etc.
in 1951 A.D. nepal became open to west through the restored shah dynasty. the shahs did not make conditions better for Nepali people, especially with the one one party system government system called the panchayat system. they allowed a tourism industry to grow because of the visible financial benefits, since then western culture has been encroaching upon our Nepali culture. the increased trend of globalization in the 90s' in Nepal and the tourism industry continued to gain speed.
today even Nepal citizens living in rural areas are gently affected by western ways.youngsters are the future of our country; they should be following our own culture rather than the ones that are brought by others from outside. this trend of westernization in youngsters will certainly lead to a dying of our own valuable culture and trend ........
